Extreme Meltdown
Iceland
It could be argued all life in Iceland is dependent on the glacial waters that melt every summer and spring - from single-celled photosynthesising diatoms feeding off the fresh melt water and sustaining our planet, to the large poisonous sharks hunted, fermented and eaten by Icelanders, to the birds which live at sea and only come ashore to breed in summer.
As debates rage across the human world about how to tackle global warming, Iceland's glaciers are melting faster each summer.
The whole wonderful web that is life on earth is important and no single part we can do without.
