Ecotourism in the Ethiopian Highlands
Hudad EcoLodge, Ethiopia
Approaching on foot, or by mule for the more hardened, one is at first amazed by the incredible views that are unveiled as you climb. Then as you reach your destination, the pure beauty of simplicity that is Hudad Ecolodge dawns.
The crowning glory on it's own plateau peninsula, Hudad overlooks Lalibela below. No running water or electricity add to the rustic charm and obvious eco credentials of this place.
Wildlife viewing, fresh air hiking and serenity are the main draws of Hudad.
The Gelada monkey (or Bleeding Heart Baboon) are daily visitors to this plateau as are rock hyrax, several bird species and sometimes leopard.
